Emissions rules
« on: July 14, 2010, 11:00:52 AM »

Ive been looking at different cans for my Versys, and found one I liked on the Twinshack site, its an SBS Corse hydroformed exhaust.

Reading on their site, any bike from 2007 onwards using any exhaust without a catalyser is not road legal?

What are the rules surrounding this? On my SV it was carbed and '99, so all I did was swap the 'slip on' end can and it was MOT passable. Could the same be done for this bike, or would it knock some sensors out and wouldnt be possible to revert - in which case you couldnt go through an MOT either!

If caught with said modification, what are if any penalties would you gain?

There are no emission tests for bikes at the moment, but thats not to say there wont be in the future, making it for bikes from a certain year, like Euro 3 on.
All those people removing the A.I (air induction) systems, cats, air box's etc, may well run into problems, as I'm sure it will be an MOT item in the not too distant future.

But some daft berks not going to chance a exhaust when they think running without a cat is not legal

My Zard is road legal But to fit it you need to remove some of the noise deading  stuff from the exhaust which makes it fruitier and prob not meet the emissions test if their was one
