Has anyone fitted a Scottoiler to a Speed Triple?
« on: July 26, 2009, 07:23:27 PM »

As per the subject - has anyone done this and could they share photos of their installation if they have? Ideally it would be an installation with the dual injector!

I'd just like to see how discreet the install can be as I don't really have room for the RMV on my Speed.

Cheers,

I posted this on anther fourm when thinking about putting one on my Speed Triple. many said they were good, many said they were rubbish.

I decided that as I only use the bike for fun and weekend blasts and keep the bike clean it' snot worth it. So if your going to add many miles on in the week and not have time to clean the bike/chain then get one.

All I know is it invloves taking the tank off and a few other things to fit the Scottooiler

Hi mate -

I recall your other post but IIRC, it didn't go anywhere...

I've got a Scottoiler on the Hornet and like it - chain is clean and always lubed. Once the drip rate is set properly, it's a fantastic bit of kit.

The alternative would be to just use Scottoil on the Speed chain - lubing it with that instead of sticky spray chain lube.

I didn't have to take the tank off for the Hornet - just fed off the vacuum via a new spigot. I doubt I'd fit the Speed one myself; would probably get the dealer to do it.

Hi.
If you must fit a scott oiler to your speed trip use an electronic type. not the vacum type.
They upset the idle air control and screw settings right up the wall. Then your looking at perhaps a couple of hundred quid.
that buys some chains so depends how much you are going to use the bike.
Lube the chain when you get home, not before you go for a ride and get less fling as the proppelant has evaporated.

OK.
Talked to my M8 Clive Wood today about this. Clive is a wizz with Triumph efi.
He said Each Cylinder on 1050 Triumphs have their own Map (Manifold air pressure) sensor. that is how they can be balenced electronicly. If you run a scotoiler from there it will upset the sensor for that cylinder and throw up all sorts of problems.
You have been warned!!!
use a leccy oiler.
Cheers.
Paul.

afraid i have to disagree with that statement. i have used a scottoiler on 3 efi triumphs and never had a problem.
i checked my manifold pressure with tuneboy on my 1050 and they are all spot on as per the manual.

just giving my findings

Guess i wouldn't use tuneboy either.
Triumph spend big bucks to perfect tunes in all conditions.
some bloke in aus (wayne Mcdonald) can write tunes in a shed better?
I dont think so. If you need tune boy thats fine.
I think i know who to believe!!
